2018 Domaine des Pentes de Barene Tursan
In-store only
Our café and market have gotten quite busy this season, so we've had to disable online pre-ordering for the time being.
Not to worry, though— our entire inventory is still available in-store. We look forward to seeing your beautiful faces!
A blend of Baroque, Gros Manseng and Sauvignon blanc from SW France. Ripe pear and apple, citrus, ginger spice, beeswax and a nutty finish.
Created in 2004 on the steep hillside of the oldest bastide in the Landes, Les Pentes de Barène has the particularity of being a domain, a parcel, and only a cuvée. It is indeed the smallest estate in the Tursan AOC in Southwestern France near Madiran, only 45 miles from the Atlantic Ocean! This slope is very clayey and the steep slope that makes up the estate as indicated by its name has led Danie Vergnesl to build terraces in order to make the vines benefit as much as possible from the south-facing exposure. These steep slopes also allow water flows to be distributed because rains are frequent and can be abundant; thus soil erosion and leaching are limited.
