2018 Bisol Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Brut Crede
$25
This is a fine Italian Prosecco with subtle notes of hay, honeysuckle, lime and a hint of spice integrate with a Champagne-like, yeasty/baguette quality. The crisp acidity is matched by a smooth texture, while velvety phenolics provide a salivating saltiness and a slightly savory bitterness to the finish.
The Bisol family have been wine producers in Valdobbiadene for five centuries. The Bisol family, whose historical winery is located in S. Stefano di Valdobbiadene, cultivate directly more than 20 of the best-located plots immersed in the steep hills that lead from Valdobbiadene towards Conegliano, the most prestigious area of the appellation. The land is extremely fragmented and studded with small plots, so much so that the average size of each property is little more than a hectare. The wine is made from Glera, Verdiso and Pinot Bianco grapes grown on the steep hills of the Poderi Bisol. The first two varieties enjoy an ideal habitat in the clayey soils and subsoils of marine clay known as "crede” that are a common feature of the countryside.
