A clean burnt sugar dominates the aroma, immediately giving way to rich dark fruits – plums, cherry, and fresh cranberries, with a velvety chocolate finish. A perfect winter ale at 10.5% abv.

Põhjala was founded in Tallinn, Estonia at the end of 2011 by four Estonian beer enthusiasts and homebrewers. Soon thereafter the company was joined by a Scottish head brewer, Chris Pilkington, with a few years of Brewdog experience under his belt. Inspired by their heritage, local nature, and cuisine, they take well-known beer styles and add their own distinctive twist.
