2019 Vincent Paris Granit Blanc, Rhone Valley
The nose is very complex while on the palate, apricot and peach from Viognier, minerality from Roussanne mingle resulting in a well-balanced wine.
Vincent Paris is a native of Cornas. He inherited most of his vines (some of which are 100 years old) from his grandfather and also rents vines from his uncle, the legendary Cornas vigneron Robert Michel. The biodynamically farmed vines, which are located in various parcels along the southeast facing Cornas slope, total approximately 17 hectares. The vines of Granit Blanc were planted in 2004 on a hill facing north of the AOC Cornas area with a very decomposed granite, almost sand. The wine is a blend of 2/3 Viognier and 1/3 Roussanne. It cannot be called Cornas as AOC wines of this region cannot be white, hence being VdP.
