2019 Dionystic ‘Peach Skin’ Viognier

$27

Peaches and more peaches, with a bit of lime zest and a hint of vanilla. Slightly creamy, juicy texture with few of the herbaceous qualities a skin contact white usually has, but that brings the fruity purity even more into relief.

Dionystic is a side project of Jeff Vehrs, who also runs Golden Cluster. He continues to work with a plethora of varieties that are not Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, having a desire to showcase the wide range of possibilities in Oregon. Jeff had the opportunity to source one ton of Viognier from the 1994 planting at Deux Vert Vineyard in Yamhill, Oregon. Deux Vert is the location of the first Viognier and Syrah plantings in the Willamette Valley. 2019 was a much cooler vintage and the fermentation was slow. After 24 days on skins, it was pressed off into twice used Acacia puncheons and Bordeaux barrels.
