Husband and wife duo, Hank Beckmeyer & Caroline Hoël run La Clarine Farm, a 10-hectare property at 2600 ft elevation in California’s Sierra Nevada Foothills. They met in Europe while Hank was touring with his band and decided to stay, visiting the producers and regions they enjoyed drinking, befriending many in the process. Hank and Caroline use natural methods for making their wines harnessing the ethos of farmer-philosopher Masanobu Fukuoka’s ‘do nothing’ methods. As the name implies, the vineyard grows wild with weeds, insects, birds, and all sorts of life teeming among the vines.
