If baking from frozen: Remove buns and frosting from the freezer and allow to sit at room temperature in the warmest (but not hot) place in your kitchen, until they are puffy and soft to the touch, about 3 hours.
For faster cooking, leave the buns in the refrigerator overnight, then remove from the fridge to sit at room temperature for about 45 minutes- one hour (or until soft and slightly risen), then follow the directions below:
Bake at 350° for 20 minutes, then rotate the pan and cook for another 10-15 minutes. If you can, use a thermometer and take the buns out when they have reached an internal temp of 195°F. Let the buns rest for about ten minutes before covering with half of the frosting. After 30 more minutes (when the buns are still warm – but no longer HOT), frost with the remaining frosting.
